Halitosis frequency among patients between the ages of 18 and 40 who visited DHQ Hospital Karak and THQ Hospital Takht-e-Nasrati Karak

Abstract

Background: Often most of the oral hygiene conditions are mistreated that lead to major issues, one among them is halitosis.Halitosis or oral malodor is an intolerable breath smell that interferes with people’s social,  professional life and self-confidence.

Objective: Objective of current research was to find Halitosis frequency among patients between the ages of 18 and 40 who visited to DHQ Hospital Karak and THQ Hospital Takht-e-Nasrati Karak.

Materials and Methods:  To find out how frequently patients between the ages of 18 and 40 who visited DHQ Hospital Karak had halitosis, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out inside the hospital.. A convenience sample strategy was employed in conjunction with a questionnaire to acquire the data.

Results: Out of the 288 patients, 156 (54.2%) had halitosis, and the remaining 132 (45.6%) did not have it. Males were more often reported to have halitosis than females.

Conclusion:More than half of the population was having halitosis. Male were more affected than female. Patients brushing their tongue were less likely affected.
